Monte N. Redman is president and chief executive officer of Astoria Financial Corporation and Astoria Bank. Astoria Bank is a full-service, diversified community bank that offers retail and business banking, residential mortgages and multi-family/commercial real estate lending. Astoria provides its customers and local communities with quality financial products and services through online, mobile, and convenient branch locations throughout the greater New York metropolitan area.

Mr. Redman joined Astoria in 1977 and has served in various accounting, investment and treasury positions during his tenure, including Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and President and Chief Operating Officer. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer and elected to the Board of Directors on July 1, 2011. Since his appointment, Mr. Redman has established a strong, seasoned Business Banking Team, and has expanded the bank’s focus on multi-family and commercial real estate lending. In 2014, Mr. Redman oversaw the bank’s rebrand from Astoria Federal Savings to Astoria Bank, reflecting the organization’s extensive range of offerings for its diverse and expanded customer base.   

In addition to his leadership of Astoria, Mr. Redman is an active member of the board of directors for the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York and the New York Bankers Association, addressing issues of importance to the New York banking community. He is also a member of the American Bankers Association’s American Bankers Council and a director and former chairman of the board of the Tourette Association of America (TA). Under his leadership, the TA helped influence legislation, furthered education and supported cutting-edge research.

A magna cum laude graduate of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Mr. Redman also serves as a member of NYIT’s Board of Trustees. In addition, his work in the community has been recognized by such organizations as St. Francis College, Variety Child Learning Center, Quality Services for the Autism Community, SCO Family of Services, Queens Botanical Garden, Queens Council Boy Scouts of America, and Queens Theatre in the Park.

Astoria Bank was founded more than 125 years ago and has a legacy of helping make a difference in the financial lives of residents and businesses. Mr. Redman continues to foster extensive community involvement and financial support for nearly 700 organizations that strengthen the neighborhoods Astoria Bank serves. He resides in Garden City with his wife, Carolyn, and has two grown children.
